City2Surf – Sydney’s most iconic running event

In News
Attracting more than 80,000 entrants each year, the City2Surf (or City to Surf), is Sydney’s most iconic running event and will be held this year on Sunday, 9 August.

Covering a fantastic 14km course that commences at Hyde Park in the Sydney CBD and passing through the beautiful suburbs of Rushcutters Bay, Double Bay, Rose Bay (to name a few) the race finishes at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach. The most difficult part of the course is “Heartbreak Hill” roughly at the halfway mark; a 2 km long steep ascent from Rose Bay to Vaucluse along New South Head Road.

The City2Surf event is a “fun run” as well as a race, attracting both competitive runners and community participants who can choose to run or to walk. The carnival style atmosphere of the race makes the whole event a wonderful experience to be part of with bands performing along the suburban roads and participants dressed in novelty themed costumes as well.

If you are planning on taking part in this annual event, why not make the most of your experience and book an overnight stay at the North Sydney Harbourview Hotel to prepare, rest or recover? Keep an eye out for our Chef’s special Carbo-Load menu on offer the night before the big race!
